Mix Minus on Sound Devices MixPre

In today’s episode we show you when and how to setup a mix-minus when you record a podcast with your Sound Devices MixPre and you have a remote guest via Skype. A mix-minus makes it so that your remote podcast guest doesn’t have an annoying echo of their own voice in their headphones.

Sound Devices has a strong history of providing high end audio field recorders for film and TV production., having won several prestigious technical awards. In 2017, Sound Devices first made their high quality audio recorders available to a larger pro-sumer audience with the introduction of the MixPre-3, 6, and 10T recorders. And now, in 2019, they have updated the MixPre line with their new II Series of recorders - The MixPre-3 II, MixPre-6 II, and MixPre-10 II. In this episode, we cover the new features on the II series of recorders, including the wide dynamic range and 32-bit float recording features and compare it to a similar recorder, the Zoom F6.

Sound Devices MixPre II Series with Paul Isaacs

Sound Devices recently announced an update to their MixPre series of recorders. The update brings some impressive new features including wide dynamic range recording (up to 142dB), 32-bit float recording, backup to USB Drive, longer pre-roll times, increased output levels on the MixPre 10 balanced outputs, and more. In this episode, we talk with Paul about the new features and where they'll be most useful.

Sound for Video Session: Sound Devices MixPre II Series

In this week's live Sound for Video Session, We talk about the just announced Sound Devices MixPre II Series of recorders. Sound Devices has added 32 bit float wav recording which they claim enables recording of 142dB of dynamic range. In addition, The 3 and 6 now both have 192kHz sample rate support, all three have USB backup copy capability, adjustable limiters, and 10 second pre-roll.
