Sound for Video Session: Setup NDI Audio & Q&A

In this week's session, we'll run a little experiment. I've never used NDI to transport audio via a network to another device. So I'd like to see how easy it is for a person of moderate intelligence, referring to me, to set it up for the first time. We'll configure my Mackie DLZ to send audio to OBS running on my computer. And we'll see if we can get it up and running within 30 minutes or less. After that, we answer your sound for video questions.

If you’d like to learn how to make great dialogue audio for your film and video projects, please have a look at my courses including processing dialogue audio in Adobe Audition and DaVinci Resolve/Fairlight, recording sound, how to use the Zoom F4, F6, F8, and F8n, and how to get the most from the Sound Devices MixPre series of recorders. We have a course on sound for live-streaming with the ATEM Mini and just added Introduction to Izotope RX for Dialogue Audio.

Sound for Video Session: Recorder/Mixer Routing & Q&A

In this week's Sound for Video Session, we revisit the topic of routing for field recorders and mixers. One of our community members asked, "How do I route the slate microphone to a boom operator?" What is Audio Routing for Video Production?

In this episode, answer the question, “What is audio routing?” Specifically, we cover this in the context of recording sound for video. You may not need to use audio routing for your current projects — and your current audio recorder may not even support it — but it is useful to understand headphone, output, and media routing as a potential tool for your future projects.

Specific routing examples on the Sonosax M2D2.
